Today, we traveled to Zhongshan, Guangdong, at the invitation of a potential engineering contractor, to conduct an on-site inspection of a 300kW commercial rooftop photovoltaic power station that had been in operation for over four years. Under the clear sky, the long-serving photovoltaic power station still stood neatly arranged, but years of outdoor exposure to the sun, temperature fluctuations, and wind and rain had gradually revealed signs of aging, allowing a reunion after four years to quietly continue.
During the on-site inspection, we discovered several typical problems with aging and damaged photovoltaic cables. Due to prolonged exposure to strong ultraviolet radiation and high-temperature, humid environments, the outer sheaths of many photovoltaic cables showed cracks and damage, and the insulation layer had completely failed. At the same time, many MC4 photovoltaic connectors had loose or fallen nuts. These seemingly minor problems actually harbor significant risks, not only causing a decrease in the power station's power generation efficiency and affecting the overall power output, but also potentially leading to safety issues such as leakage and short circuits, directly threatening the long-term stable operation of the power station and the safety of personnel. This is the core reason why the client urgently sought technical support.
Site surveys, hazard identification, and customized replacement solutions were the core tasks of our visit. During the discussions, a long-forgotten story resurfaced, making the visit particularly meaningful. It turned out that this Zhongshan engineering contractor had consulted us about photovoltaic cables and connectors four years prior. At that time, the client ultimately chose a cheaper product due to price considerations, regrettably missing out on a partnership. Four years have passed in the blink of an eye, but it has been the best testing ground for the quality of photovoltaic equipment. Some low-priced, un-irradiated photovoltaic cables and connectors without TUV/UL certification on the market do not use high-quality raw materials and lack good anti-aging and UV protection processes. They are ill-suited to the harsh outdoor operating environment of rooftop photovoltaic systems, frequently experiencing aging, loosening, and damage within just a few years, significantly increasing power station maintenance costs and safety hazards. This precisely illustrates the simple truth of the photovoltaic industry: low prices can only win temporary cooperation; only superior quality and reliable performance can maintain a long-term reputation. This reunion after four years is no longer a simple inquiry about supply and demand, but a fair answer given by the market and time. The client has witnessed firsthand the maintenance difficulties caused by inferior parts and deeply recognizes the quality advantages and technical strength of our products. A past collaboration lost due to price has now been successfully reunited due to a strong reputation for quality.
